Artist In Residence, 2016

Fiskars, Finland is a cooperative of artists, designers and wood-workers. As winter approaches there is a small contingent of residents who everyday make it a point to continue swimming in Degersjön lake on the north side of town. Ice swimming through winter is a tradition throughout Finland amongst other countries which promotes health and well-being.
The finnish word for (undress) is "Riisua". Existing on site near the open water is a makeshift changing room constructed for the matriarch of Fiskars avanto, an 85 year old woman who rarely misses a morning swim. Riisua Pavilion will replace the existing tarped dressing room with a “undressing” pavilion constructed of timber for community use.
